William Langley

With tranquil rivers, hazy mountains, and grazing cattle, William Langley's landscapes are serene, harmonious, and timeless.
William Langley

William Langley was a landscape painter who worked predominantly in oil and favoured coastal scenes, rural landscapes, and highland views, often featuring cattle. Although little is known about his artistic training and career, his work remains popular to this day. His landscapes have a timeless appeal, presenting an idealised, harmonious view of nature. He is mentioned in Hidden Talents: A dictionary of Neglected Artists Working 1880-1950 by Jeremy Wood (published 1994):"Painter in oil of rural landscapes and coastal scenes who was working in the early 1900s.  The subjects of this prolific artist included views in Cornwall, the South of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.

Among the titles of known works are 'On the Lledr', 'Wee Bridge, Killarney', 'In the Glen', and 'Sunshine after Rain, a Village in the Thames'. The work shows a distinct similarity to that of several artists working at the time, and the pictures are often large and decorative and have become increasingly popular in recent years."
