The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is some slight dirt trapped beneath the glazing and some marks to the frame. Overall in good condition.

Peter Ghent RCA (1857-1911) was a painter of landscapes in oil and watercolour. He was born in Birkenhead and attended Birkenhead School of Art. He later moved to Conwy, Gwynedd, North Wales, which was the inspiration for most of his paintings. Ghent was elected a member of the Liver Sketching Club in 1880 and exhibited many works at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, the RA, the ROI, and the RCamA of which he was a founding member. In 1905 he returned to Liverpool where he later died. Examples of his work are held by the Atkinson Art Gallery, Dundee Art Galleries and Museums, NML, Torre Abbey Museum, and the Williamson Art Gallery.
