A fine watercolour painting with gouache details by the British artist Harry Spence. The scene depicts a narrow street scene with figures. In loose brush strokes the artist created a very well-balanced and harmonious composition. Signed to the lower left-hand corner. Presented in an off-white card mount and in a painted off-white frame with gilt detail. On watercolour paper.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and minor foxing to the sky area. Some scuffs and Marks to the frame.

Artist Biography
Harry Spence RBA (1860-1928) was born in England, however, spent his early years in Glasgow, where he may have attended the Glasgow School of Art. He lived in Bushey, Hertfordshire and although a prolific exhibitor nothing much is known of his career. He showed at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Grosvenor Gallery, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, International Society of Sculptors, Painters & Gravers, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Scottish Academy and at the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour. Examples of his work are in the collection of Bushey Museum and Art Gallery, Glasgow Museums, National Trust and Paisley Art Gallery. He died in St. John's Wood, London.
