Artist Biography

Marika Eversfield was born in 1914 in Gyor, Hungary. She studied art in Vienna, and later moved to London. Her decision to remain in London probably saved her life, as Marika’s mother and maternal grandparents all perished in Auschwitz. After having worked various jobs, Marika took up painting. Eversfield gained recognition for her work in her mid-80s, winning the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea art competition. She died at 100 years old in 2014.
