An enchanting work by Marcel Cosson (1878–1956), depicting an elegant ballroom scene with dancers gathered in a grand foyer beneath an arched entranceway. The composition employs expressive brushwork and a palette of creams, golds, and soft pastels to capture the atmospheric quality of the interior with figures ascending the stairs. Well presented in a beautiful gilt-effect frame with linen slip. Signed lower left. On panel.
Condition
A light, even patina of age is present across the surface of the artwork. Minor surface marks and abrasions to the left hand edge. The gilt effect frame is in very good condition. Minor wear to the linen slip. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
