An impressive portrait by German artist Kunz Weidlich (1878–1940) depicting a man in traditional Alpine costume, or "tracht." Wearing a black wide-brimmed hat and a blue neckerchief, the sitter gazes into the distance with a stoic expression. The work is signed to the upper right and is well presented in a gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Areas of craquelure and faint impressions from the stretchers are visible. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. Light wear to the frame. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
