A fine Orientalist portrait attributed to the accomplished German artist Franz Seraph von Lenbach (1836-1904). Using his favoured technique, the Venetian method, Lenbach has rendered the figure in rich depth and detail. Unsigned. Beautifully presented in an ornate gilt frame with an engraved plaque bearing the artist's name. On canvas laid to board.
Condition
Light discolouration to the surface. Inspection under UV light reveals a small area of restoration. Minor wear to the frame, including scuffs, small chips and indentations. Overall the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
