Description

This intimate domestic scene depicts a contemplative woman in traditional dress seated in a rustic kitchen interior. Behind her, the wall is adorned with Delft tiles in classic white and blue patterns. She adjusts her cap in a propped-up mirror as she prepares for her day. With a frilled pelmet curtain, cast iron pot, and wooden panelling around the room, the artist beautifully captures the feel and atmosphere of a 19th-century Dutch interior. Signed to the lower right. Well presented in a gilt frame. On canvas.

Condition

The painting is in good condition for its age, with only minor abrasions to the surface and light markings. Some wear to the gilt frame.
