Collection Information

These remarkable works in oil by the unknown artist E.L. Edwards date from the latter part of the mid 20th Century, and reflect the wider revival of portraiture in the period. Highlighting the relationship between artist and sitter, this collection demonstrates the power of the portrait in isolation, and the artist's intimate but fun approach using form and colour.

Edwards has a clear interest in fashion as well as face, and the sartorial flair of each sitter stands out in this bold and colourful studio collection, drawing attention to their unique characteristics. Unframed and newly stretched, these works are ready to hang and full of character.
