Description

An emotions study of a young pauper boy curled on the steps of a building with his head to his knees. The artist captures the boy in tattered clothes and bare feet, highlighting the desperation of pauper children in Victorian times. Signed and dated to the lower right. On canvas.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Some loss of paint to the outer edges of the canvas. There is some craquelure to the surface. The canvas has been relined.
