Description

This intimate baroque painting depicts a sleeping child in peaceful repose, rendered with masterful chiaroscuro technique that dramatically contrasts light and shadow across the subject's form. Condition

The canvas has been relined and areas of restoration undertaken. Some areas have been restored and overpainted, noticeably the sky of the distant landscape. 50cm horizontal repair to the canvas slightly visible at the upper edge of the composition. Areas of surface dirt and craquelure. Marks and scuffs to the frame that does appear to have been restored/ repainted at some stage. Some chips to the paint of the frame around the edges and sides.
