A masterfully executed copy after Federico Barocci's (1535-1612) 'Rest on the Flight into Egypt', which is housed in the Vatican Museums. The scene depicts the Holy Family resting during their journey as they flee King Herod's persecution. The work is beautifully presented in a gilt frame. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers.

The artwork has undergone restorative work, including relining and areas of overpainting. Discolouration and craquelure throughout, as is typical for a picture of this age. Faint impressions from the stretchers. Light wear to the frame.
