A striking 18th-century religious painting depicting the Virgin Mary in prayer, her hands clasped before her chest and her head gently bowed. Her alabaster complexion contrasts beautifully with the deep black and blue tones of her robes, lending the composition a solemn and contemplative character. Unsigned. Well presented in a gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Craquelure and light abrasions throughout. The artwork has undergone previous restoration including relining and overpainting. Overall, the artwork is in good condition for its age. Some wear to the frame, including scuffs, chips and indentations throughout.
