After Antoine Jean Gros - Original 1780 Mezzotint. A mezzotint with hand colouring, engraved by William Dickinson (1746-1823) after the painting by Antoine-Jean Gros (1771-1835). Some of the hand colouring is recent and there is areas where gum Arabic has been applied. Another edition of this print was sold at Christies in New York for $1,315. Signed in plate. On wove. Trimmed inside lower plate line and 1cm outside of plate at the upper edge and sides. Small tears, and creasing to edges. There is a closed 2.5 cm tear to upper edge and a closed 4.5 cm tear to the lower edge
