Description

A fine eighteenth-century mezzotint by Jonathan Spilsbury after Sir Joshua Reynolds's portrait of the Right Hon. Frederick Howard, 5th Earl of Carlisle. Carlisle inherited his title at only ten years old. Well presented in a vintage black frame with gilt running patterns. On paper.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age including discolouration and foxing to the paper. Several tears to the page, most notably across the lower margin and across the sitter's shoulder. Marks and scuffs to the frame, as well as some losses to the running patterns.
