Description

A wonderful study of the Mailcoach speeding through an English landscape. The post guard at the back of the coach can be seen blowing his horn to warn other road users to keep out of the way and to signal to toll-keepers to let the coach through. An old man and his dog sit patiently on the side of the road, waiting for the coach to thunder past. Well presented in a gilt effect frame. Unsigned. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

There is some discolouration and surface dirt to the varnish and surface of the painting. Minor marks and scuffs to the frame.
