Horses feed from a trough outside a quaint timber-framed inn in this idyllic rural scene. The artist employs a charmingly naïve style, with vibrant colour. Signed and dated to the lower right. Well presented in a gilt frame with fluted cove and ornate running patterns. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age, including some discolouration and craquelure. The canvas has been previously relined, and inspection under UV light reveals some areas of overpainting. Light wear to the frame. Overall, the artwork is in good condition for its age and presents well.
