A hand coloured stipple engraving with watercolour and gum arabic. After Anthony van Dyck's (1599-1641) 'Portrait of George Gage with Two Attendants' (c.1622-3). George Gage was a notable art dealer and political agent in the 1620s, acting for King James I and then Charles I. Date taken from an identical impression of the engraving, without hand colouring, in the collection of the British Museum. On wove laid to backing wove.
Condition
Cropped within the plate lines. There is some discolouration and foxing around the margins of the backing wove.
