Artist Biography
William Cooper (1923-2011) was a self-taught artist, born in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan. He attended Westminster School and Cambridge University. Cooper was for many years on the staff of Sherborne School, also lecturing independently and for Bristol University extra-mural department. Cooper began specialising in collage and mixed media in 1963, later adding oil, acrylic and watercolour. He was elected RWA in 1973, joining its council in 1991. His many mixed exhibition appearances included RA, NEAC, Swansea University and Newlyn Orion Gallery.
