This striking mix media study depicts the Spanish town of Cadaques in magnificent modern collage. Every architectural elements has been carefully cut by the artist and laid in perfect perspective on top a bold acrylic base. Signed to the lower left corner. The colourful composition is well presented in contemporary linen slip and gilt frame. Signed and inscribed, verso. On board.

Artist Biography

William Cooper (1923-2011) was a self-taught artist, born in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan. He attended Westminster School and Cambridge University. Cooper was for many years on the staff of Sherborne School, also lecturing independently and for Bristol University extra-mural department. Cooper began specialising in collage and mixed media in 1963, later adding oil, acrylic and watercolour. He was elected RWA in 1973, joining its council in 1991. His many mixed exhibition appearances included RA, NEAC, Swansea University and Newlyn Orion Gallery.
