A fine late 19th century or early 20th century landscape by W. Richardson. The artist has captured Loch Katrine, located in the Trossachs area of the Scottish Highlands. It is a well known beauty spot and a favourite subject of landscape painters, such as Alexander Nasmyth. With areas of impasto, adding a sense of depth and perspective within the composition. Well presented in an ornate gilt frame with detailed moulding. Inscribed with location on reverse. Signed. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
Overall the condition is good. Areas of minor discolouration. Inspection under UV light reveals no signs of restoration. The frame has a few minor losses to the moulding. Noticeable losses to the upper left (inner edge).
