Description

A charming oil study from c.1907 depicting a modest rural cottage set within a well-maintained plot, featuring neatly trimmed hedgerows and blossoming trees. Carbaat employs an impressionistic, almost pointillistic technique to capture each roof tile and verdant planting. The work is presented in a 20th-century frame and signed 'J. Carbaat' in the lower right corner. Dated 1907. On board.

Condition

A light, even patina of age is present across the surface of the artwork. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. The frame has minor surface wear. Overall, the artwork presents in very good condition for its age.
