A finely detailed watercolour by prolific English marine painter Thomas Bush Hardy (1842–1897). Executed with meticulous attention to detail, the scene depicts ships bearing the French flag in a harbour. Turbulent waves crash against the boats in splashes of white. Signed and dated to the lower left. Well presented in a gilt frame with a washline mount. On paper.

Minor discolouration to the paper. Scuffs and scratches to the frame. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
