Sidney James Beer (1875-1952), noted Cornish artist of mainly marine and coastal watercolours of the West Country who flourished during the 1920s. He was born in Paignton, Devon, son of James Doderidge Beer, who was a carver and gilder. He moved to Cornwall in 1906 and set up studio in Church lane, Falmouth. He traded as a framer and dealer and moved to Carharrick near Redruth later in life.
