A charming watercolour painting with gouache details, depicting a river scene with houses in the distance. Inscription on the reverse reads: 'Middlewood Forge, Sheffield. Purchase by John Barnoley about 1900. (Re-framed 1984)'. Signed to the lower right-hand corner. First initial of the signature is illegible. Well-presented in a washline card mount and in a distressed gilt effect frame. On watercolour paper.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Some surface marks and trapped dirt to the mount. Small scuffs to the frame.
