A finely painting hunting scene by the British artist Robert Cleminson (fl.1864-1903). Here he has captured a dramatic study of two hunting dogs in the process of catching a plump mallard who has been hiding in the tall grasses of a riverbank. Very well presented in a bird's eye maple frame with gilt detail. Signed. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Overall the condition is very good. There is some minor surface dirt. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. There is some very faint craquelure to the surface. Finished with a shiny varnish.
