Rudolph Ackermann (1764-1834) was a prominent Anglo-German publisher known for his high-quality illustrated books and repository of arts. Often using anonymous company artists for his illustrations, Ackermann was one of the pioneers of modern publishing methods, developing an international distribution network for his publications while building up significant commercial interests around the world. 'Ackermann's Repository of Arts' was an illustrated British periodical published from 1809 to 1829 that gained significant influence on British fashion, architecture and literature.
