Painter and etcher born in Brentford, London. His father Ralph Thomas was allegedly a collector, etcher and friend of Whistler but in fact, he was also a Serjeant-at-law which was the equivalent of a senior judge. Thomas studied under Whistler, Auguste Delatre (1822-1907) and at the Royal Academy Schools under Millais. He was elected Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers
