A fine watercolour by well listed artist Oscar Ricciardi. The scene depicts figures gathering at a village fountain on a continental street. Women pump water into pails and converse before half timbered buildings. Signed to the lower right. Presented in a gilt frame with ornate foliate details. On paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There some light wear to the frame.

Artist Biography

Oscar Ricciardi Born in Naples in 1864. He was a self taught painter, who specialised in romantic historical scenes at the start of his career. He was considered by some to be the head of Impressionism in Naples.

He was popular among collectors for his Neapolitan street and coast scenes and exhibited regularly in Naples, Palermo, Milan, Turin's.
