A delicate study by illustrator Nicholas Solovioff (1927-1994), depicting a young woman named Cecil. The artist's masterful handling of light and tone imbues the scene with a wonderful sensitivity. Unsigned. Inscribed verso. Well presented in a thin gilt frame with a wash line mount. On paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration to the paper. Some discolouration to the mount including a small stain to the upper right hand corner. Light wear to the frame.

Nicholas Solovioff (1927-1994) was an American artist and illustrator known for his technical precision and imaginative flair. A graduate of Harvard University and the Art Students League of New York, Solovioff gained recognition for his detailed illustrations in science, engineering, and aviation, often featured in publications such as Scientific American, Popular Science and The New Yorker. He also worked as a courtroom artist and book illustrator, contributing to a wide range of genres from science fiction to historical subjects.
