An intimate early 20th-century genre scene by the artist Max Barascudts (1869–1927), depicting scholarly gentlemen engaged in conversation as gentle light streams through a nearby window. Rendered with beautifully sensitive brushwork. Signed to the upper right. Well presented in a gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
Fine craquelure and light abrasions throughout. Inspection under UV light reveals small areas of restoration. Light wear to the frame, including scuffs and small chips. Overall, the artwork is in very good condition for its age.
