This vibrant early 20th-century landscape study by the artist Mathilde Lenoir (1878-1965) depicts a sun-drenched Biskra in Algeria, where purple-hued mountains tower above leafy palm trees and golden sands. Signed, titled and dated to the lower right. Inscribed to the stretchers verso. Beautifully presented in a hand carved frame. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
Some discolouration to the varnish. Craquelure and abrasions throughout. Inspection under UV light reveals no apparent restoration. Overall the artwork is in good condition for its age. Wear to the frame including scuffs, chips and indentations. Some separation to the mitre joints. Overall the frame is also in good condition for its age.
