A coastal scene depicting a ship at harbour and further sailing boats and paddle steamers setting out across the choppy waves. Presented in an ornate gilt-effect wooden frame with floral and foliate moulding to the outer edge and cove and lamb's tongue detailing to the inner edge. Signed and dated to the lower-right corner. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
There is some stable craquelure, mild surface dirt, and discolouration to the varnish. Inspection under UV light reveals a very small area of retouching to the lower-right edge. There are some small chips and areas of restoration to the frame.
