Description

A charmingly naive example of folk art from the mid 19th Century. The interior scene shows a girl sitting in a rustic cottage with a baby on her lap, play "This little Piggy" on the infants toes. The artist has signed and dated to the lower left corner and the painting has been presented in a 20th Century gilt frame. There is a label at the reverse, indicating that this painting was exhibited at the New Gallery in Edinburgh in 1933. On board.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including heavy discolouration. There are areas of surface restoration visible across the image.
