Leyton Forbes (1861-1939) was a painter, ne Patrick Lewis Forbes in Calcutta, India, the son of a tea planter. Forbes studied art at Aberdeen University, 1881-1883, and later went on to paint mainly landscapes. He lived in London, and later in Worthing, Sussex, where on the electoral roll for 1939, he was described as an ‘artist (painter) retired’. He exhibited at the London Salon, Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, and Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, all from an address in Hampstead, London.
