The Frame is glazed and has an internal glazed inner window. The frame has been made in the Neoclassical style that was popular during the reign of Louis XVI.
The measurements for this frame are:
Inner window: 58.5cm x 43.5cm
Full height and width: 81.5cm x 67
Rebate: 61cm x 46cm
Return Depth: 7.5cm
Condition
The frame has some areas of restoration at: the upper left edge, all four corners, The lower left scotia, the middle edge of the frieze and the top right corner of the beaded strap work. All the restoration is well executed and does not detract from the overall appearance of the frame which is a fine example of this period. There are heavy losses that have been repainted at the furthest returned edge, but again, these are unnoticeable from the front and do not detract from the frame's aesthetic.
