A wonderful 19th century gilt oval picture frame in the French Rococo style, elaborately decorated with foliate running patterns and elaborate upper gesso shell and acanthus ornamentation.
Measurements for the frame are:
Window (39 x 33.5cm); Rebate (44.5 x 38cm); Frame (66 x 50 cm).
The gilt frame has a lovely patina. There is a 7cm hairline crack to the left side of the frame. The gesso pediment has been previously repaired. This is particularly noticeable to the left-hand acanthus leaf.
