A mezzotint with hand colouring by John Raphael Smith (1751-1812) after George Morland's (1763-1804) painting 'The Fern Gatherers'. Inscribed with the title, publication information, and names of the artists in plate to the lower edge. On wove.Condition
Cropped within the plate lines. There has been restoration to a tear across the lower-left corner and to a closed tear just to the right of centre at the lower edge. There is some discolouration and some marks to the surface.

Artist Biography
John Raphael Smith (1751-1812) was a British painter and mezzotinter. He was the son of Thomas Smith of Derby, the landscape painter, and father of John Rubens Smith, a painter who emigrated to the United States.
