Painter and etcher, born in Dalston, London trained originally as a lawyer receiving his degree from Cambridge University. and was later called to the Bar c. 1889. He later studied art at the Slade School of Fine Art under Alphonse Legros and showed at the NEAC, RA, Goupil Gallery, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Fine Art Society, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, International Society of Sculptors, Painters & Gravers, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, NG, Ridley Art Society and Walker's Gallery. Duff was elected to the NEAC 1903, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, in 1913, Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers in 1919 and he was also a member of the Society of Twenty-Five Painters. Duff exhibited at the Ipswich Fine Art Club in 1923 and he also represented Britain at the 16th Venice Biennale in 1928. Shortly before his death, he donated a quantity of watercolours, pastels, etchings and enamels to the Southwold Museum.
