The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is some foxing to the top half of the painting.

Artist Biography
Frederick William Hayes ARCA was born in Rock Ferry, Wirral. He originally trained as an architect in Ipswich, then studied at Liverpool School of Art, where he later became a teacher. He founded the Liverpool Watercolour Society and studied in London with artist Henry Dawson. Hayes showed many times at the RCamA of which he was an elected member. He also showed at the RA, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, London Salon, MAFA, RBA, RI, Walker's Gallery, London and ROI. Examples of his work are in the collections of Bristol Art Gallery, Wolverhampton Art Gallery and the V&A. He died at Hampstead, London
