A beautiful late 19th Century landscape in watercolour, showing a woman walking home with a basket, her dog by her side, under a delicate dusk sky. The artist has signed and dated to the lower right and the panting has been presented in a late 19th Century gilt frame with foliate molding and finished with a gold mount. On wove.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The frame has tarnishing and a brown varnish over the surface.

Artist Biography
John Carlisle (fl.1866–1916) was a British landscape painter. He lived in London and Dorking, and later at Keats Cottage in Hampstead. The painted in Devon, Wales, Scotland and Guernsey, and in Italy. He exhibited widely including sixty-two paintings at the Walker Gallery in London.
