Artist Biography

A London-based artist, Frederick Charles Winby lived at 50 Addison Avenue, London, W11. He studied at the Slade School and Julians, Paris. Both a painter and etcher, his work reflected the changes in class and society during the early 20th Century, from the Edwardian era to the aftermath of the Second World War.

Winby depicted humble country interiors and pubs, workshops and bakeries, as well as the opera houses and horse racing scenes of high society. He exhibited at both the Royal Academy and the Royal Institute, London.
