Robert William Arthur Rouse was a painter, etcher and illustrator born in Kennington, London the son of a furniture dealer. Rouse was elected to the Royal Society of British Artists in 1889 and showed at the Royal Academy, RBA, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Government records show his year of birth to be July 1866 and not one year later as given by some authorities. He died in Oxford.
