Mid 19th Century Watercolour - Gathering Wintercress Flowers
Description
A truly charming watercolour finished with graphic black hatching, showing children gathering yellow Wintercress flowers in a bare branched wood. This pretty scene in an unusual style has an appearance of a children's book illustration. The kneeling child and her basket have been cut out and stuck over the background paper by the artist (likely to cover something the artist was unhappy with) but this is virtually unnoticeable.
The painting has been presented in a glazed gilt frame with a wash-line mount.
On wove.Condition
The painting is in remarkably good condition for its age. The frame and mount are in fine condition.
