Description
A woman labours in a kitchen, illuminated by sunlight from a window, in this charming genre scene by Dutch artist Johannes Weiland (1856–1909). The woman holds a large teapot, while a coffee grinder rests on the table and a bucket sits on the floor. Signed to the lower left. Well presented in a gilt frame with ornate foliate running patterns. On canvas laid to board.Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age, including discolouration and craquelure. Some abrasions to the surface. The canvas has been previously relined, and inspection under UV light reveals areas of overpainting. Scuffs, stable cracking, and small losses to the frame. Overall, the artwork is in good condition for its age.
