An 18th-century genre work painted in the 17th-century Dutch Golden Age tradition. The interior scene depicts a convivial gathering of peasant figures in a dimly lit tavern, with a woman in a white apron playing the theorbo lute, surrounded by a gentleman playing the flute and tavern guests in song. The composition employs dramatic chiaroscuro and warm, earthy tones typical of 17th-century genre painting, presented within an ornate gilt frame that complements the work. Unsigned. Condition
The artwork exhibits signs of wear consistent with age. Minor surface marks are noted. There is a surface scratch to the left of the dog. Inspection under UV light reveals minor overpainting. The frame has a fine patina of age. Overall, the artwork presents in very good condition.
