This charming 18th-century genre scene, attributed to the Flemish artist Jan Baptist Lambrechts, depicts a cheerful group of figures in colourful eighteenth-century attire gathered around a meal, celebrating with food, drink, and animated conversation. Bears signature to the lower left. Beautifully presented in an ornate gilt frame, with a small plaque bearing the artist's name. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age. Craquelure and light abrasions throughout. Inspection under UV light reveals extensive overpainting. The canvas has been relined. Overall the artwork is in good condition for its age. Wear to the frame, including scuffs, chips and indentation. Some separation to the mitre joints. The frame has undergone prior restoration, with touch-ins to the gilt surface. Overall the frame remains in good condition for its age.
