Artist Biography
James Chalmers Park (1858-1938) was a painter and etcher born in Wetherby who was artistically educated at Leeds Art School. His ability showed itself first in bird paintings and he exhibited at many galleries including the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and RBSA. Park became a member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters but his name is best known for his etchings of buildings since these were exhibited in most of the Northern art galleries and were also reproduced as postcards.
