A very fine early 20th Century copy of Raphael's c.1514 'Madonna della seggiola' in watercolour. Raphael's choice to forgo his linear style and strict geometric form is still clear in this handsome rendering. Mary embraces the child Christ in a loving manner, while a young St John the Baptist watches on in piety. The original is housed in the Palazzo Pitti collection in Florence, Italy.
