J. Atwood Slater - Original Late 19th Century Graphite Drawing. Unsigned. On wove. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including discolouration.

J. Atwood Slater was an accomplished artist and architect who appears to have resided in Cotham, Bristol. He was a Silver Medallist of the Royal Academy of Arts and won the Sharpe Prize at the Royal Institute of British Architects. He was also a certified student of the Slade School of Fine Arts. He appears to have been a regular contributor to the letters sections of local Western newspapers in 1901, such as the Western Daily Press and Bath Chronicle, where he gives his expert opinions on various public works and lectures of the time.

From a collection of excellent architectural drawings and watercolours by J Atwood Slater, who was working between 1883 and 1906. Our collection includes studies of Salisbury, Mantes,Sens, Vézelay and Amiens amongst others. Many are signed or monogrammed with dates.
