The painting throws a humorous spin on the realities of a new home in the treacherous property market. She smiles a joyless smile whilst holding up her house key as the tiny space crumbles and rots around her. Her remaining pennies sit at her feet and bills lie at her side. The painting has been presented in a simple black frame and the artist has signed and dated to the reverse.

Artist Biography

Isabelle Mulvany studied Fine Art specialising in sculpture at Central Saint Martins, although her draftsmanship overcame her sculptural practice and she is currently focused on portraiture and figurative illustration.

Isabelle relishes folklore symbolism and iconography, which she works into many of her portraits, adding nods to lunar phenomena, omens and other such mythology.
